Still We Speak

                                                Still We Speak

The essence of a heart cannot be read upon a page

Language limits us, our inner wars to wage

Yet some would say our stories must be secrets even still

Our power taken once again until...  we speak

Until we speak

We ban together armed with hope of ending cruelty

At least within our homes, our churches, and our families

Yet some would stand and shame us into silence that can kill

This tiny bit of strength that lingers still... we speak

Still we speak

We are not ashamed of our stories

We are not ashamed of our scars

We did not bring this upon ourselves

We wont let it change who we are

Our battles beat us down

Bested us

And then birthed our bravery

To brandish this boldness

No more will we hide

No more will we cower

We will not feel alone

Or blame ourselves for losing our power

For in speaking out, we power up

In speaking out, we stand up

In speaking out, we band together

In speaking out, we band together

I will speak for you

You will speak for me

We will speak for each other

I am spoken for

You are spoken for

We are all spoken for

I will speak for you

You will speak for me

We will speak for each other

I am spoken for

You are spoken for

We are all spoken for

So still we speak

Still we speak

Still we speak...
